About Tim

Tim Mitchell is a senior member of Chatham’s Real Estate team. He leads client relationships and comprehensive engagements for institutional real estate investors. He started in our hedge advisory practice — advising private real estate companies on funding strategies with particular emphasis on interest rate risk management and prepayment considerations. Before joining Chatham, Tim spent 13 years at Somera Capital Management in Debt Finance, Acquisitions, and Asset Management roles. Tim also currently serves on the board of the Littleton Public Schools Foundation.

Tim received his bachelor’s degree in economics from UCLA and his MBA from the Graziadio School at Pepperdine University.



Rate cap provider ratings and downgrade triggers

Interest rate caps are purchased to hedge floating-rate loans every business day. Cap pricing is driven by economic factors including the notional hedged, term, strike rate, forward curve, and volatility of the underlying index.
