Clark Maxwell and Laura Grant: 30 years of bringing knowledge, data, and tools to the capital markets

Summary

Clark Maxwell and Laura Grant talk about how Chatham continues to bring a combination of knowledge, data, and tools to the capital markets. Chatham Financial is celebrating 30 years of serving our clients.

Listening to our clients

Our clients' feedback and input have played a significant part in our growth into new services and products. We had a client years ago who expressed interest in a debt platform to track their debt information, similarly to how we were tracking and storing their derivatives information. That feedback contributed to the genesis of Chatham Debt Management, which is now a market leading debt management system in the real estate space.

Advancing the capital markets

Over the last 30 years, the markets have become more accessible and equitable for several reasons. There's broader knowledge, there's more sophistication, there's more access to data, there's more experience, and there's more understanding. Chatham has brought and continues to bring a combination of knowledge, data, and tools to the marketplace that enables our clients to make smart decisions in the debt and derivatives markets, and as we look forward, our goal is to go beyond to the broader capital markets.

Solving challenges alongside our clients

We take pride in providing our clients with a more comprehensive evaluation of the problem that they're trying to solve. Often, clients will come to us with a specific solution in mind, but that's not always the right answer. We are able to think about their problems from different angles and provide them with new or innovative solutions to better solve those problems.

Fully independent

Our independence from third party interest is really important to our clients. We are on their side of the table, and we have their best interests in mind and theirs alone. It helps provide us with a long-term perspective of our client relationships, focusing less on the short-term wins, but more on sustained growth and success. That means that we may not always advise our clients to execute a transaction which builds our clients' trust in Chatham. Business is about people, it's about building trust, and it's about building long-term relationships.
