Chatham’s Financial Services Practice provides risk management advisory and technology solutions to insurance companies and government sponsored entities. Our derivatives subject matter experts provide month-end valuations and accounting for thousands of derivative trades including interest rate, foreign currency, equity, and credit derivatives, all supported by our proprietary technology platform. As our client segment rapidly grows, the business is constantly augmenting existing technology and building new technology to meet client needs.

Your impact:

In this role, you will have primary responsibility for implementing, coordinating, and delivering Chatham’s derivative solutions to both new and existing clients in the financial services industry. Chatham’s solutions include the entire trade life cycle: onboarding, affirmation, valuations, accounting, collateral, and reporting.  Once you gain expertise in these areas and prove yourself in client interactions, you will manage client relationships and support the sales process.

In this role you will:

  • Primarily responsible to deliver valuation, derivative operations, accounting and reporting solutions using the ChathamDirect platform to the client
  • Coordinate the delivery of valuation, affirmation, and collateral services with internal teams
  • Onboard new clients and expand relationships and services at existing clients
  • Ensure that implementations meet deadlines while balancing ongoing client needs and deadlines
  • Troubleshoot issues that arise in client derivative portfolios
  • Develop business processes to support new solutions and hedging strategies
  • Develop functioning prototypes of reports, analysis, or hedging strategies before they are automated
  • Provide requirements to development teams to automate manual processes and test software solutions
  • Manage client relationships
  • Support business development efforts
  • Write articles and other marketing pieces that promote Chatham’s business

As a result of your work in this role, you will:

  • Develop a strong understanding of the business operations supporting management of derivative portfolios
  • Gain an understand of market data that supports derivative valuations
  • Develop an understanding of the underlying economics of derivatives
  • Develop derivative accounting expertise under US GAAP and STAT

Contributors to your success:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting or finance
  • 2-4 years in public accounting or in accounting advisory is a plus
  • Experience in investment/derivatives accounting and operations is a plus, but not necessary as long as you have the aptitude and desire to become a subject matter expert on these topics
  • A desire to contribute to the success of a fast-growing business
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, self-motivating and time-management skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • An interest in finance will help you in understanding the economics of the derivatives transactions and how to account for these transactions
  • Travel of 10-20% is possible; our work is not conducted at our client locations, but we do travel occasionally for business development and relationship management purposes
