Chatham Financial Expands Capital Advisory Group with Appointment of Two Senior Executives

Kennett Square, Pa., Oct. 19, 2010 — Chatham Financial, a globally recognized leader in interest rate risk and currency risk management, capital advisory, accounting and valuations, today announced that it has expanded its capital advisory group, Chatham Capital Advisors, by bringing on board real estate capital markets veterans Mike Havala and John Avioli. Havala and Avioli will also launch the firm’s new Chicago office.

“We are excited to bring on board two senior executives who have over 45 years of combined real estate capital markets experience and who have raised over $20 billion in debt and equity capital for both public and private real estate companies,” said Mike Bontrager, founder of Chatham Financial.

Havala and Avioli are the co-founders of Blue Spire Capital, LLC, a Chicago based consulting group specializing in providing capital markets and financial related advice to the real estate industry. Previously, Havala spent 15 years as the CFO of First Industrial and Avioli spent 12 years as the Director of Finance for Lerner Companies. Each will bring their seasoned knowledge of the real estate capital markets to Chatham Capital Advisors.

“This has been an exciting year of milestones for our business,” said Matt Henry, head of Chatham Capital Advisors. “In addition to the successful completion of the $1.3 billion refinancing of Bank America Tower at One Bryant Park in New York, the addition of Mike and John further expands the talents and experiences of our team in developing strategy, structuring and executing transactions involving secured debt, unsecured debt, subscription debt, corporate lines of credit, joint venture equity, and publicly-traded common stock, preferred stock and bonds.”

The firm’s total capital advisory services now include over $32 billion of capital markets executions and advisory work. As the demand for strategic and objective real estate capital markets advisory services grows, Chatham Capital Advisors will continue to meet the challenges of the marketplace by increasing the access and services to current and future clients nationwide.
